Why the electric skateboard cannot be charged?
1. First please check if there is problem with the charger. Check method: power on and measure the output voltage to see if it equals to the output voltage noted in the charger.
2. Circuit problem: Loose thread leads to poor connect, short circuit or damage to components. As it results in circuit hardware and other issues, disassemble and replace the circuit when necessary.
3. There is something wrong with the battery BMS. The battery management system has problems due to the imbalance of the cells, which leads to the misjudgment of IC so that it's unable to detect voltage or current. Therefore, when using an electric skateboard, the battery should be well maintained to extend the service life of the esk8 battery.
(1) Avoid overcharging
Overcharge means that the lithium battery is charged too long under the allowable charging voltage, or the charging voltage exceeds the setting voltage .(for example, the rated voltage of the battery is 3.7V, the full charge voltage is 4.2±0.05V. That is, the maximum voltage is 4.25V. If it exceeds 4.25V, it is called overcharge.) What harmful effects does overcharge have to the battery?
During the overcharge process, the battery voltage rises rapidly with the increasing polarization, which will cause irreversible changes in the structure of the positive electrode active materials and decomposition of the electrolyte, and generate a large amount of gas and amount of heat, leading to a sharp increase temperature in battery and internal pressure. Melting or shrinking will cause the positive and negative materials connection and short-circuit, which will be resulted in hidden dangers such as explosion and combustion. So, we recommend to charge in 4-5 hours with the original charger.
(2) Avoid overdischarging
Overdischarge means that the voltage reaches the rated discharge voltage and continuously keeps discharge. (e.g.: If the lithium battery has a rated discharge voltage of 2.5V, it is overdischarged if it continues to discharge below 2.5V.) What harmful effects does overdischarge have to the battery?
Generally speaking, when the internal pressure of an over-discharged battery increases, the reversibility of the initial active materials of the positive electrode will be destroyed, resonant decomposition, continuous lithium deposition, resistance increase, no more charging, only partial recovery, and the capacity will be apparently increase and decrease. Battery overdischarge may bring catastrophic consequences to the battery, especially high-current over-discharge or repeated over-discharge of battery value.
