PCB -- The Heart of Electronic Equipment

PCB, also known as printed circuit board, is a type of board that forms electrical connections between electronic components by patterning and laying conductive copper foils on the surface of insulating materials (e.g., fiberglass, epoxy, etc.), and its main function is to realize the electrical connections between electronic components through these copper foil lines and to fix the components on to the board.
Structure & Classification of PCB
Substrate: Usually made of fiberglass or epoxy resin, provides support and insulation.
Conductive Layer: Made of copper foil, which is responsible for transmitting current and signals.
Solder Resist Layer: Protects the copper foil of the circuit board from oxidation and short circuits.
Character Layer: Marks the location of components on the circuit board for ease of assembly and maintenance.
Based on the number of conductive layers, PCBs can be categorized as single-sided, double-sided, and multilayer. Specifically, a single-sided board is the most basic type of PCB, which has a conductive layer (copper foil) on one side only and a non-conductive material on the other. This design is typically used for simple circuits such as appliances or electronic toys.
A double-sided board, has a conductive layer on both sides of the PCB, meaning that electrical connections can be made through both sides. Double-sided boards enable more complex circuit designs than single-layer boards and are suitable for more demanding electronics such as automotive electronics and consumer electronics.
Multi-layer boards are PCBs with 4 or more layers connected by internal wires, are suitable for highly integrated and large circuits, such as robots, large AI models and other fields.
Usage of PCB
PCB has lots of functions in electronic equipments. It provides mechanical support for the fixation and assembly of various electronic components such as integrated circuits, and realizes the wiring and electrical connection or electrical insulation between each component. On the other hand, it also provides solder resist patterns for automatic soldering, and identification characters and graphics for component insertion, inspection and maintenance.
PCB enables the automatic insertion or mounting of electronic components, automatic soldering, and automatic testing. It also ensures the quality of electronic products, increasing labor productivity, reducing costs, and facilitating maintenance.
In the field of LED lighting, metal core PCBs are widely used in LED bulbs.
In the auto industry, PCBs are used for engine control systems, audio systems, transmission sensors, digital displays, etc.
In aerospace, PCBs are needed for components that can withstand extreme temperatures and a lot of turbulence, required to be lightweight and oxidation-resistant.
In the medical industry, PCBs are required for heart monitors, diagnostic ENT equipment, CT scanning systems, and more other equipments.
We also use Aluminum PCBs in our products such as 75200 Pro ESC, with good heat dissipation, it can definitely expand the products' life span.
