Tutorial on Handling Firmware Anomalies for the FT85BS and FT85BS V2.0 ESC

Identification of Firmware Anomaly:

When the firmware name displayed for the FT85BS and the FT85BS V2.0 ESCs is "FT85BD" (as shown in Figure 1), a firmware anomaly is confirmed.

Solution:

Use the Flipsky ESC Tool(Specified version1.6) to re-flash the firmware for the FT85BS and FT85BS V2.0 ESCs. After successful update, the firmware name will display as "FT85BS".

Firmware Update

Step 1:Download the specific version of the Flipsky ESC Tool "Filpsky_ESC_Tool_V1.6_20251030" from the provided URL, as shown in Figure 2.

Step 2: Click the Flipsky ESC Tool V1.6_20251030, then click "Connect" to establish communication between the ESC and the Flipsky ESC Tool. At this point, the firmware name will still be abnormally displayed as "FT85BD", as shown in Figure 3.

Step 3:Click "Enter bootloader", then click "Yes" to enter Bootloader mode, as shown in Figure 4.

Note: When the ESC's red LED starts flashing at a fixed frequency, it indicates entry into Bootloader mode. Then click "OK", and click the "Connect" button to reconnect the ESC (as shown in Figure 5).

Step 4: Click "Start Flashing", then click "Yes" to proceed with the firmware download and update, as shown in Figures 6 and 7.

Step 5: After the update is complete, click "Connect" again. Verify that the firmware name has been updated to "FT85BS", as shown in Figure 8.

Then the anomalous firmware has been updated and restored to normal.
